Our management team
CBCI is led by experienced professionals with extensive backgrounds in the residential and commercial construction industries. Our Management Team combines this construction background with their unique experience in technology, innovation and business management to ensure our customers benefit from the latest developments in construction materials and installation methodologies.
Dan Stites, Chairman and CEO, is a Licensed Professional Engineer and Licensed California General Contractor and Roofing Contractor. He has more than three decades of experience in the construction industry. Dan is former President of Fluor Corporation’s Process Division and former Chairman of the Engineering and Construction Contracting Association (ECC), an affiliate of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Dan served as industry representative to the Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) and the Construction Industry Institute (CII). He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Cal State University, Long Beach, and completed graduate studies in Business at Rice University and Thunderbird, Garvin School of International Management.
David Ludwig, President and COO, is a Licensed Professional Engineer specializing in technology management, heat transfer, fluid mechanics and manufacturing methods. Prior to launching Crank Brothers Construction, David served as President and as Vice President of Global Research and Development for leading technology companies nationwide. He was also principal consultant for Vital Technology. David holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, pursued a Doctor of Science program in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, and was a professor at Dartmouth College’s Thayer School of Engineering.

Selecting a contractor
If you are considering replacing your roof, siding, or other exterior building structures, we believe there are six things you should know before you selected your contractor:
- Not all construction products are created equal. Though they may look similar, some brands and materials really are made better and last longer than others. Make sure that your contractor knows the difference, and can assist you in selecting the product that meets your needs, your dreams and your budget.
- Not all companies treat their customers equally. Make sure your contractor is truly responsive to customer needs. How good is the communication between the contractor and its customers? How satisfied are previous customers with the products that were installed, and with the service they have received? Will the contractor provide a list of their customers? Does a company representative respond when you call with questions?
- Not all companies get the same treatment from their suppliers. The best contractors have excellent relationships with their product manufacturers and distributors. Ask your contractor if they will provide their suppliers’ names for referral. What’s the company’s reputation in the industry?
- Not all installers are equivalent. Ensure that the crew that does the work on your house knows the products, has the experience to do the job right and is passionate about neatness, fit and finish, and service.
- Not all contractors will offer you the best quality and prices for your needs. Find a contractor that treats you personally, honestly and with respect and that gives you the best value - with a clearly stated proposal, with no confusion, no pressure and no nonsense.
- Not all companies will be there to serve you after the installation in completed.
